Introducing David

Hello World,

I’m a massive fan of the great Scott himself, Sir Ridley Scott. In fact I’d go as far as saying that Alien is the best film ever and Blade Runner is pretty close to being visually perfect.  In honour of the upcoming Prometheus I decide to knock up a loving homage to the recently released David 8 poster featuring David from my own film. Oh, careful viewers might be able to spot a shade of shameless self-promotion going on as well.

Space is Ace

Hello World,

After being inspired whilst watching one of Andrew Kramer’s fantastic After Effects tutorials over on Videocopilot, I think I’ve come up with a neat little scene that if I manage to pull it off should spice up my showreel nicely. As homage to Star Wars and my geeky love of Sci-Fi, the little scene will involve a spaceship escaping an exploding planet just in the nick of time.

Below is a very rough storyboard of the ship escaping from the planet, I’m hoping it will look better than this.  Now I just need to model the ship, texture it, animate it, before finally learning just how I go about destroying a planet. Hmm maybe I’ve bitten off more than I can chew.

Celtic Media Festival

Hello again world,

Oh dear. In my haste to post my first blog I completely forgot to shamelessly pat myself on the back for my graduation film “David” winning the Student Animation Award 2012 at the Celtic Media Festival over the weekend.  Unfortunately I couldn’t afford to make the trip over to Ireland but needless to say I’m extremely chuffed to win it. Many thanks have to go to the good folk at the University of Wales,Newport and the people at Celtic Media Festival for selecting my film.
